人类是否有权利以一部分的名义取消另一部分同类的生命权？杀人者之所以有罪正因为其逾越人的权限剥夺同类的生命，那么判处死刑呢？二者的逻辑是一样的，我们正以尊重杀人者逻辑的方式惩罚杀人者。许多人迷信死刑，认为死刑可以威慑罪犯，事实并不能支持这样的观点：取消死刑的国家没有因为取消死刑而犯罪率上升，保留死刑的国家也没有因为使用死刑而禁绝犯罪。我们应该以什么样的方式珍惜生命、热爱生命、敬畏生命呢？
